Mr Lachlan Ashlin is commended for brave conduct for his actions following a house explosion in Cooroy, Queensland on 11 March 2021.

At approximately 1:00am, Mr Lachlan Ashlin went to his neighbour's house after hearing an explosion.

Mr Ashlin reached the property and heard someone moaning at the back of the house. He went through rubble and found a severely burnt man and assisted him to the front of the property. 

Shortly after, another explosion occurred inside the house. Mr Ashlin ran back to his house and retrieved a surfboard.

With the help of his father and brother, Mr Ashlin lifted the man onto the surfboard and carried him across the road to safety.
